Car brake pad manufacturers found that the car in our daily use, the brake should be one of the most frequently used functions, but the car brake pad as a mechanical part, more or less we will encounter such problems, such as ringing, shaking, odor, smoke… Let’s wait. But is it weird for someone to say, “My brake pads are burning”? This is called brake pad “carbonization”!
What is brake pad ”carbonization”?
The friction components of brake pads are made of various metal fibers, organic compounds, resin fibers and adhesives through high-temperature reaction die-casting. Automobile braking is carried out by the friction between the brake pad and the brake disc, and the friction is bound to generate heat energy.
When this temperature reaches a certain value, we will find that the brake smoke, and accompanied by a pungent taste like burnt plastic. When the temperature exceeds the high temperature critical point of the brake pads, the brake pads contain phenolic resin, butadiene mother glue, stearic acid and so on such carbon containing organic matter hydrogen and oxygen in the form of water molecules, and finally only a small amount of phosphorus, silicon and other carbon mixtures are left! So it looks grey and black after carbonization, in other words, it is “burnt”.
The consequences of “carbonization” of brake pads:
1, with the brake pad carbonization, the friction material of the brake pad will become powdered and fall rapidly until it is completely burned out, at this time the braking effect gradually weakens;
2, the brake disc high temperature oxidation (that is, our common brake pads blue and purple) deformation, deformation will cause high-speed braking when the rear of the car vibration, abnormal sound…
3, high temperature causes the brake pump seal deformation, brake oil temperature rise, serious can lead to damage to the brake pump, can not brake.
