Automotive brake pads: As the name suggests, it is a mechanical brake device that can slow down the speed, also known as a reducer. Simply put: the car brake pedal is under the steering wheel, step on the brake pedal, the brake lever linkage pressure and transfer to the brake drum on the brake disc stuck, so that the car slows down or stops running. The car’s manual brakes are in gear and connected to the brake bars. There is also a common bicycle brake, which is slowed down by a rod brake or a disc brake fixed on the frame.
The brake system hidden in the wheel is an important device that plays the role of stopping the car in motion. The brake device of the car brake pad manufacturer generates friction between the brake pad and the wheel drum or disc, and converts the kinetic energy of the car into heat energy in the process of friction. Common brake devices have two types of “drum brake” and “disc brake”, their basic characteristics are as follows:
First, drum brake:
Two semi-circular brake pads are arranged inside the wheel hub, and the “lever principle” is used to push the brake pads so that the brake pads contact with the inner surface of the wheel drum and friction occurs.
Drum brakes have been used in automobiles for nearly a century, but because of its reliability and powerful braking force, drum brakes are still configured on many models today (mostly used on the rear wheels). The drum brake is to push the brake pads installed in the brake drum outward by hydraulic pressure, so that the brake pads friction with the inner surface of the brake drum with the rotation of the wheel, and produce the braking effect.
The inner surface of the brake drum of the drum brake is the position where the brake device produces the braking torque. Under the condition of obtaining the same braking torque, the diameter of the brake drum of the drum brake device can be much smaller than that of the brake disc of the disc brake. Therefore, in order to obtain powerful braking force, large vehicles with heavy loads can only install drum brakes in the limited space of the wheel rim.
Second, disc brake:
Two brake pads are controlled by brake calipers to clamp the brake disc on the wheel. When the brake pads clamp the disc, there is friction between them. The brake discs used by high-performance sports cars are mostly perforated ventilation discs, which have a good cooling effect, and cold air passes through the wheels to cool the brake discs.
