Brake pads thermal decay and ablation problems

This involves the problem of thermal decay and ablation of brake pads. Thermal recession refers to the brake skin (or brake disc) temperature rises to a certain extent, the phenomenon of brake effect decline or even failure (this is quite dangerous, the car can not stop where there is no heaven, so the critical temperature of thermal recession is very important), the obvious feeling is that the brake foot is soft, and then how to step on the brake effect is not obvious. The thermal decay temperature of different brake pads is different, the original brake pads are generally 250℃-280℃, and the good brake pads should be at least above 350℃, which is safer you can imagine

When the brake strength and time continue to increase, the temperature continues to rise, then the internal material of the brake pad will undergo chemical changes, resulting in molecular structure changes that affect the braking effect, which is the so-called ablation. The symptom of ablation is that the leather surface is shiny and mirror-like, which is the high-temperature crystallization structure of the brake pad material after ablation. After thermal decay and cooling, the brake pads will naturally recover the braking ability, but the ablation is not the same, it is not recoverable. Brake pads once the ablation of its braking ability is almost completely lost, in order to ensure safety must be immediately dealt with, the case of light sandpaper, heavy can only be replaced.
