Today, automobile brake pad manufacturers talk about the common problems of semi-metal materials in brake pads.
How to define the material formula of brake pads: including steel fiber, porous iron powder, filler to increase conflict, graphite, coke, lubricant, etc. The content of steel fiber and iron powder is about 40%.
Semi-metallic formulations for friction materials. Main features: 1. Low cost. 2. High thermal conductivity. 3. Good wear resistance. 4. Suitable for heavy-duty braking conditions.
The first problem of friction materials:
1. Noise, oscillation and roughness simply cause low frequency noise, accompanied by violent oscillation of the body.
2. More dust (low temperature degradation).
3. The high metal content makes the low temperature and low speed braking force lack, which simply causes pedal fatigue.
4. High thermal conductivity and high heating rate will transfer heat to the brake caliper and its components, and then accelerate the aging of the brake caliper, piston seals and return springs. The high thermal conductivity simply causes the thermal decomposition and high temperature degradation of the conflicting data, which will cause the brake lining to fall off or break.
5. Strong adhesion, not easy to rust. After corrosion, the adhesion or damage is two-layer, and the wear is aggravated.
Percentage volume is a very correct unit for measuring friction materials. Formulation engineers should take the initiative to understand the fundamental properties of various raw materials (density, particle size, hardness, moisture, chemical composition, elastic modulus), but also should clearly understand the effects of various friction materials on the micro and macro functions of friction materials. Now, according to the understanding of automobile brake pad manufacturers, most formula design tests are based on the component ratio. In order to avoid the lack of fundamental data on the function of the raw material, it is theoretically difficult to express the connection between the number of ingredients in the formula and the conflicting functions in a simple and clear formula, such as mixing time, pressure time, pressure pressure, holding time and degassing time, grinding method, two layers of material, data and other factors can affect the braking function anytime and anywhere during the braking process. As regards the formulation itself, it is not correct to determine the proportions of the various ingredients by theoretical means, nor can we quickly derive direct quantitative links between the formulation and the function, which depend primarily on accumulated experience over a long period of time.
