In our daily driving, what problems will brake pads encounter? For these problems how to judge and solve we provide the following solutions for the owner’s reference.
01. There are grooves in the brake disc leading to the grooving of the brake pads (uneven surface of the brake pads)
Description of the phenomenon: the surface of the brake pad is uneven or scratched.
Cause analysis:
1. The brake disc is old and has serious grooves on the surface (uneven brake disc)
2. In use, large particles such as sand enter between the brake disc and the brake pads.
3. Caused by inferior brake pads, the hardness of the brake disc material does not meet the quality requirement
Solution:
1. Replace the new brake pads
2. Wear off the edge of the disc (disc)
3. Blunt the corners of the brake pads with a file (chamfer) and remove the impurities on the surface of the brake pads
02. Brake pads wear inconsistent
Description of the phenomenon: the wear of the left and right brake pads is different, the braking power of the left and right wheels is not the same, and the car has a deviation.
Cause analysis: The braking force of the left and right wheels of the car is not the same, there may be air in the hydraulic pipeline, the brake system is faulty, or the brake pump is faulty.
Solution:
1. Check the brake system
2. Drain the air from the hydraulic line
03. The brake pad is not in full contact with the brake disc
Description of the phenomenon: the brake pad friction surface and the brake disc are not in full contact, resulting in uneven wear, brake force is insufficient when braking, and it is easy to produce noise.
Cause analysis:
1. The installation is not in place, the brake pad and the brake disc are not in full contact
2. The brake clamp is loose or does not return after braking 3. Brake pads or discs are uneven
Solution:
1. Install the brake pad correctly
2. Tighten the clamp body and lubricate the guide rod and plug body
3. If the brake caliper is faulty, replace the brake caliper in time
4. Measure the thickness of the brake disc at different positions with a caliper. If the thickness exceeds the allowable tolerance range, replace the brake disc in time
5. Use calipers to measure the thickness of the brake pads at different positions, if it exceeds the allowable tolerance range, please replace the brake pads in time
04. Brake pad steel back discoloration
Description of the phenomenon:
1. The steel back of the brake pad has obvious discoloration, and the friction material has ablation
2. Braking effect will decrease significantly, braking time and braking distance will increase
Cause analysis: Because the pliers piston does not return for a long time, the factory time drag caused by grinding.
Solution:
1. Maintain the brake caliper
2. Replace the brake caliper with a new one
05. Steel back deformation, friction block off
Cause analysis: installation error, steel back to the brake pump, brake pads are not correctly loaded into the caliper’s inner brake caliper. The guide pin is loose, making the braking position offset.
Solution: Replace the brake pads and install them correctly. Check the installation position of the brake pads, and the packaging brake pads are correctly installed. Check brake calipers, brake pins, etc. If there is any problem, replace the brake caliper, brake pin, etc.
06. Normal wear and tear
Description of the phenomenon: a pair of normal wear brake pads, the appearance of old, wear evenly, has been worn to the steel back. The use time is longer, but it is normal wear.
Solution: Replace the brake pads with new ones.
07. The brake pads have been chamfered when not in use
Description: Unused brake pads have been chamfered.
Cause analysis: It may be that the repair shop did not check the model after getting the brake pad, and the model was found to be wrong after chamfering the car.
Solution: Please check the brake pad model carefully before loading, and carry out the correct model pairing.
08. Brake pad friction block off, steel back fracture
Reason analysis:
1. The supplier’s quality problems caused the friction block to fall off
2. The product was damp and rusted during transportation, resulting in the friction block to fall off
3. Improper storage by the customer causes the brake pads to be damp and rusty, resulting in the friction block falling off
Solution: Please correct the transportation and storage of brake pads, do not get damp.
09. There are quality problems with brake pads
Description of the phenomenon: there is obviously a hard object in the brake pad friction material, resulting in damage to the brake disc, so that the brake pad and the brake disc have a concave and convex groove.
Reason analysis: brake pads in the production process friction material mixing uneven or impurities mixed into the raw materials, this situation is a quality problem.
